MBA Business Economics DU Review | AI Monks

Ques: What are your academic and professional background? Did you work somewhere before taking up this course?

No, I am a fresher. I did not work anywhere before I joined this course. Talking about my academic background, I completed my bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. I had moved to New Delhi after appearing in CAT.

Ques: How much did you score in CAT?

I scored 97.53% in the year 2019.

Ques: What made you choose MBA Business Economics by DU? Did you consider other institutes and their programs as well? If yes, why didn’t you choose them?

I have always had an interest in analytics. When I researched the courses in analytics, I found out that the Department of Business Economics, DU is offering this course with rich placements. The regular recruiters in this course were companies like American Express, Piramal Enterprises, etc.

Yes, I did consider other programs like the Big Data Analytics PGDBA Program by the Royal Institute of Management. But the MBA (Business Economics) by Delhi University suited me better financially. It costs only INR 12,000 per year, which was quite reasonable in comparison to the others.

Ques: Apart from the written exams, were there group discussions and personal interviews? If yes, what were the questions that the interviewers asked you?

Yes, there were group discussions and personal interviews. In my interview, the interviewers asked me basic statistical questions, academic and professional background, final-year projects, and some current affairs.

They also asked me how to convert the skills I learned during my bachelor’s degree and use them in my masters. The process was very smooth. It was a pleasant experience.

Ques: How many students are there in your batch? In your opinion, what are the challenges that you may face during placements?

The batch limit is 60. There aren’t many challenges in terms of placements. As mentioned earlier, we are also capable of giving government exams. So, I don’t think there would be a problem if someone doesn’t get placement opportunities through this program.

Ques: How has your journey been so far? Are you content with the curriculum you’ve received up until now?

My journey so far has been full of ups and downs because of the Coronavirus spread. Other than that, it’s been an enriching experience so far. I’ve learned a few subjects that I didn’t expect to be in the MBA (Business Economics) program by DU.

I wouldn’t comment on the satisfaction as I am currently a first-year student. But being an analytic course, I didn’t expect that it would be this much economics oriented. The program teaches most of the analytics in the second year.

However, being a business course, it is very diverse in giving opportunities. It also comes handy for giving government exams and preparing for the Indian Economic Services as well.

Ques: Are you content with the faculty and their methods of teaching?

Since the course is quite new in this university, the faculty seems to be more economic-oriented. We do have a good stats faculty. I expected the studies to be more applied and practical rather than theoretical and economics-based.

Ques: Any advice for the people who would consider joining this program?

My advice would be to have your background research clear. It is an affordable course with plentiful placement opportunities. You will study lots of economics and analytics, and this course will not disappoint you.
