Have you been thinking about the MBA Analytics, IIM Kashipur, interview experience and dreading it? Are you still unaware of the requirements and process of the interview? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back!
Given below is a small chat we had with Prateek, wherein he shared with us his MBA Analytics IIM Kashipur interview experience that he had recently appeared for. Read further to understand better what it is like to be interviewed for such a program.
Name: Prateek
Academic Background: Completed bachelor’s in Electronics and Telecommunity from the University of Mumbai (MU), in 2019.
Professional Background: Worked with Cartesian Consulting Agency for a year.
Name of the Course: MBA (Analytics) program by IIM Kashipur.
Ques. Why did you choose the MBA (Analytics) Program by IIM Kashipur?
I’ve always wanted to establish a career in the Analytic domain. With this course offering precisely that, I knew it was for me. I had gone through the curriculum, which stated the first-year to be current MBA study and the second-year to have a little emphasis on Analytics. Hence, I found this program a great fit for me.
Ques. A rough guess on how many people applied for the course and how many appeared for the interview?
There were around 2,000 applicants out of which approximately 250-300 people were shortlisted for the interview. There are 40 seats available for the program.
Ques. Out of the options available, which exam did you choose to apply through for the course? What was your score?
There are three exams through which one can apply for the MBA (Analytics) program: CAT, GRE, and GMAT. I had recently appeared in CAT, and hence, I chose to apply through it.
My CAT score was 90%.
Ques. What questions were asked to you by the interviewing panel? How many interviewers were there, and what were their backgrounds? Did they ask you any questions regarding statistics or ML?
My interview took place a day after the cyclone Nisarga had hit Maharashtra. Since it was an online interview, I was asked basic general awareness questions like:
- Where do you live in Mumbai?
- How can you use analytics to determine the effects of COVID19 on the Goregaon Film Industry?
- If you were the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, how would you handle the COVID19 situation of the state?
- What are your unique skill subjects?
- What is the difference between a multiplexer and decoder? Draw a diagram to explain.
The panel that interviewed me consisted of 2 professors from IIM Kashipur. No, they did not ask questions about statistics or ML but they asked questions from my engineering background. They mostly asked questions based on the profile I had shared.
Ques. Do you have any idea about the cutoff for the MBA (Analytics) program by IIM Kashipur?
Yes, the cutoff for the interview was 44 out of 80 for the general category. For the other categories, it was at least 5 marks less. There was no cutoff for the st category. There was a separate weightage for women and non-engineers.
The panel would calculate a composite score based on your profile. It is a mixture of your CAT, GRE, and GMAT score, your graduation percentage and 10th and 12th percentage. They would also add your work experience if you have any.
Other than that, there is no specific preparation required for the interview.
Ques. How did you prepare for the interview?
AI Monks had helped me a lot by providing the notes for the PGDBA programs. I also did some research from google as the interviewers usually ask questions about the current position of the Data Analytics field and check our general knowledge.
Ques. Any suggestions that you would like to give to the people who would like to apply for the program in the future?
In my opinion, it would be better if one applies through GRE or GMAT instead of CAT. There are more chances of scoring high marks through GRE than CAT. The interviewers would most likely ask questions from your background and on current affairs and essential general trivia. Having command over them would help you ace the interview.
We hope Prateek’s MBA Analytics IIM Kashipur interview experience would help you prepare for your interview.
