India joined Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), an international multi-stakeholder initiative on AI, as a founding member on Monday. Other members of the initiative include the UK, USA, EU, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan, Newzealand, Singapore, and the Republic of North Korea.
The GPAI will focus on responsible AI, the future of innovation, and work, commercialization, and data governance.
GPAI aims to support the responsible development and use of AI, revolve around human rights, diversity, inclusion, economic growth, and innovation.
By using the experience and diversity of participating countries, the initiative’s objective is to understand the challenges and opportunities around AI. The IT ministry claims that the initiative can achieve this goal by bridging the gap between practice and theory.
The initiative helps collaborate experts from different industries to promote responsible AI evolution. Also, find ways to leverage AI to tackle the global crisis at hand.
Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and two Centres of Expertise, one in Paris and Montreal, will support the initiative.
The IT Ministry launched the National AI Strategy and National AI portal of India last month: a digital platform for India’s AI-related developments. The platform is leveraging AI across various sectors.
