Delhi Airport Ensures Social Distancing Using Artificial Intelligence: Social distancing has become a new norm in our lives. And, amid the corona virus pandemic, Delhi Airport has turned to Artificial Intelligence to maintain social distancing among passengers. The airport has started using computer vision to ensure social distancing.

What to expect from AI and Computer vision? The sensors and AI are programmed to track passengers, reduce their waiting time and ensure that the passengers follow the safety norms at its terminals.

Here’s how AI and Computer vision will do that. The technology will gather information using images to analyze and understand the density of passengers or the footfall at the airport. The authorities will install these sensors at various checkpoints at Terminal 3 to gather data accurately.

Whenever the sensors notice any breach of social distancing, it sends out a message to the operation room so suitable action could be taken. The breach are placed on the roof of the terminal. It shows people are white dots and doesn’t identify their faces, ensuring no breach of privacy.

What is “Xovis”? Xovis is a passenger tracking system that Delhi airport installed at Terminal 3 last month. The system uses sensors to determine passenger density. Authorities want to deploy this technology at Terminal 1, but it is delayed due to renovations taking place as of now.
