PGP in Data Science- All you should know

The Post Graduate Program in Data Science with ML and AI, the course aims at offering the students a comprehensive analytics experience. The course exposes the students to hands-on-lab experience and teaches them to extract, analyze and visualize data with the help of a wide range of tools such as Python, R, Spark, Excel, SQL, SAS, Hadoop, MongoDB, Amazon AWS, QlikView, and Tableau.

Statistical Modelling, Analytical Skills, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Deep Learning techniques with the ability to create predictive models are all parts of the curriculum. Along with this, the course also stresses on improving the Communication and Visualization skills of the students.

PGP in Data Science specifically aims at building the ability to apply business analytics to the areas of marketing, finance, operations, retail, BSFI, telecom, healthcare, etc. Additionally, the students are offered lab sessions where they use languages such as Python to applying the theory. The faculty claims to use the data available from Kaggle competitions to create assignments and student solutions.

Admission Process- PGP in Data Science at Praxis

Interested students can apply for the course on the official website of the college. The students have to clear the Praxis Admission Test (PAT/XAT/CAT/GMAT/GRE). It must be noted that the score of the last three years is accepted.

As the next round of selection, a list of selected candidates is created after assessing their test score and the profile. The shortlisted candidates appear for an interview with the panel which includes representatives from the college and the industry. The interview can be held at either of the following centers –

Eligibility

To be eligible for application for the course, the candidate must fulfill the following conditions-

  • The candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% in class X, XI, XII, and graduation
  • The candidate must have completed his graduation in either of the following-
    • BE/B.Tech/M.Tech
    • MBA/PGDM
    • BA/MA (with Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, and Mathematics)
    • BSc,/MSc (with either Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects)
    • Any other graduate degree with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects

Fees

The total fee for the course is INR 5,10,000 (including only the academic fee). The break-up is as follows-

  • Admission confirmation- 50,000
  • First installment- 2,30,000
  • Second installment- 2,30,000

However, students have to pay a total amount of INR6,05,000 (inclusive of the tuition fee, course material, refundable deposit of 10,000 and GST).
