The PGDBA Interview
Name: Subhasis Panda
Current Designation: Business Analyst
Current Organization: TATA Strategic Management Group
Your interview location: Mumbai
How many people were there at your PGDBA interview location?: 100
What was your score based on the answer key released by IIT Kgp? 122/150
Your panel (number of interviewers/their background): My interview panel had 3 Interviewers; I guess they were one from each of ISI, IIM, and IIT.
How was your PGDBA interview?
Overall, my interview went well. Even though I got puzzled in 2 questions, I managed to answer maximum questions. The best part was that the interviewers gave me hints and were ready to listen to me completely.
What technical questions (related to analytics/machine learning) did the panel ask?
I was asked how analytics is used in healthcare because I had mentioned that I was working in the healthcare industry. There were 1-2 follow-up questions regarding the application. The interviewers made sure if I really knew the application, or if it was something that was already existing, and analytics was not involved in it.
Then, there was a case-study wherein I had to apply analytics in Judiciary to fast track cases and explain what could be different analytical methods employed to reduce the time for case completion.
What mathematics/statistics questions did the panel ask?
The panel asked a question on conditional probability which was slightly tricky. They also questioned me thoroughly about parameter estimation techniques such as likelihood functions and their relevance.
Did the panel ask you questions on general awareness or general knowledge?
No, the panel did not ask me questions about general awareness or general knowledge.
Did you feel that your interview was a stress interview?
No, not at all. My interview was rather a relaxed one.
How did you prepare for the entire process – written exam, application, and interview?
For the written exam, I referred to my IIT JEE notes which were more than enough for mathematics. For English and DI/LR, Time material for CAT was sufficient. And for the interview, I prepared basic questions like why I wanted to do PGDBA, how could I Introduce myself, the details of the projects I had done in my job, etc. I also studied basic topics from class 11 and 12, engineering mathematics and statistics.
If you were following AI Monks during the preparation, did you feel AI Monks would have been useful at any point in time? If yes, how and if not, then what better they could do?
I had attended an interview meetup prior to the interview conducted by AI Monks. The interview gave me an idea about what to expect from the course and whether it really made sense to do the course. I also got inputs from Mr.Vishal on how to deal with the ‘Why PGDBA’ course specific to my profile.
