Eligibility Criteria
The university shall consider the candidates who meet the following criteria for admission:
- An undergraduate degree with a major in data science, computer science, or statistics. The minimum weighted average mark (WAM) should be 65 %.
- They should have completed 12.5 points of university-level computer science. The content should computer programming focused and the following subjects or their equivalents :
- MAST10006 Calculus 2
- MAST10007 Linear Algebra.
- During selection, the Selection Committee considers prior academic performance. The program does not require any work experience.
- The criteria for WAM and subject requirements mentioned above are for students who have completed their undergrad from the University of Melbourne. The committee will consider subjects equivalent to the course chosen by the student if he/she is not from the University of Melbourne.
- Suppose the student does not have a major in statistics or computer science, but it is still interested in studying Data Science. In that case, they can purse the Graduate Diploma in Data Science. After completing this course with a minimum WAM of 65%, they will be eligible for pursuing Masters in Data Science. This allows them to complete both the courses in 2.5 years.
