Details of Master’s in Machine Learning at KTH
Master’s in Machine Learning at KTH is divided into 4 semesters. The programme focuses on teaching the mathematical and statistical foundations and methods of machine learning to the students with the idea of enabling them to model and discover patterns from observations.
The course provides chances of practical learning of how to match, apply and implement relevant machine learning techniques to solve real world problems. The programme starts with compulsory courses in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, followed by an advanced course in machine learning and research methodology.
Post this term, corresponding to the core competencies of a machine learning expert, the students have an option of choosing from two areas namely, application domains within machine learning and theoretical machine learning.
The first group of courses enables students to solve problems in particular application domains such as computer vision, information retrieval, speech and language processing, computational biology and robotics. The second group, on the other hand, provides knowledge of more basic theoretical courses in applied mathematics, statistics, and machine learning.
The final term consists of a degree project in which the students are required to participate in advanced research or design projects in an academic or industrial environment, in Sweden or abroad. This project enables the students to demonstrate their ability to perform projects independently with the help of the skills obtained from the programme.
Fees
The total fee of the course is 310,000 SEK (approximately INR 204,480) and can be paid in installments. The first installment of the tuition fee is 77,500 SEK, which is to be paid by 31st May 2020.
Scholarship
KTH offers 4 different scholarship opportunities for postgraduate studies.
- The first type of scholarship covers the tuition fee of a one or two year master’s programme
- The second type is the one-year scholarship that covers the tuition fee exclusively for the second year of study. However, the living costs are excluded
- The third type is the KTH Joint Programme Scholarship focusing on students under joint programmes or exchanges
- The last type of scholarship, named as The KTH India Scholarship is aimed at Indian students. Established in 2012 by an unknown philanthropist, it gives out 2 scholarships per year. The scholarship covers the full tuition fee of a two-year master’s programme with an additional benefit of monthly living expenses
To be eligible for any of the scholarships, students must apply any time between 1st December 2019 until 15th January 2020.
Eligibility Conditions for Master in ML at KTH
