How many people were there at your interview location? (Rough estimate):

How was your interview?
My interview for PGDBA started with a basic introduction & then the panel asked a few questions about my college. Turned out the professor was from IIT KGP, my alma mater. They made some snappy comments about the negative gradient about my grades, which I accepted as my prepared answer was useless since the professor was from my college.
The IIM Guy said that he remembered me from last year’s interview (don’t know how) and asked what went wrong then.
After that, they moved to questions in mathematics. In a nutshell, my PGDBA interview experience was not as I expected it to be.
What technical questions (related to analytics/machine learning) the panel asked?
The panel asked questions about what domain I was working in & if I knew R & Python. No deep delving in technical questions as I was not from an analytics background.
What mathematics/statistics questions the panel asked?
- The panel asked questions about the normal distribution & poisons distribution, along with Binomial expansions when I couldn’t define Poison distribution with confidence.
- Conditional probability
The professor from IIT Kgp then handed over the bat on to the professor from ISI and asked him to ask more questions. He then asked me a series of aptitude questions. Some which I could remember are as follows-
- Define a polynomial. Write a polynomial that is always equal to e^x. (Answer- none)
- Given a square of side 2, prove that if 5 points are randomly placed in it, there will be at least 2 points, whose distance will be less than root(2).
Few more similar questions, which didn’t require many mathematical skills but just the presence of mind.
Did the panel ask you questions on general awareness or general knowledge?
The last time when I attended the interview for PGDBA, I was asked all the math questions in the interview, but I couldn’t answer finance questions. So, maybe they spared me the pain this time.
Did you feel that your interview was a stress interview?
No
How did you prepare for the entire process – written exam, application, and interview?
For the Written exam- I went on the back of my CAT prep & revised 11th & 12th mathematics at the last moment.
For the Interview- Prepared prob & stats thoroughly with some other courses including Linear Algebra as I was from maths Background.
Suggestion- Prepare for basic finance & economics terms too, was asked to me last year.
If you were following AI Monks during the preparation, did you feel AI Monks was useful at any point in time?
Past interview experiences provided me with a direction in which I should focus my interview, which was way different than the typical MBA interview I had prepared until then. The mock interview was to the point for most people, though I couldn’t attend one due to constraints. AIMonks is, however, a nice initiative which will definitely help the deserving candidates get through the admission process without much hustle.
