Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA 2025) is a one-of-its-kind course started by three top institutes in India – Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. The entire course spans 22 months with four semesters.

The course starts with a pre-semester module at IIM Calcutta, followed by the first semester at ISI Kolkata. The pre-semester is a primer to give students the flavor of analytics and make them understand how their entire journey is going to unfold. The first semester focuses on statistical and mathematical aspects of analytics. The second semester begins at IIT Kharagpur. The institute being the pioneer in technology focuses on the machine learning and algorithms aspect of the analytics field. The third semester at IIM Calcutta amalgamates the entire learning of prior semesters and builds the application and management orientation of students. The fourth semester is the internship semester where students go to various organizations and work on live projects. The course completes the entire spectrum of analytics and provides students with a holistic and comprehensive package.

PGDBA 2025-27 Admission Process

We don’t expect any significant change in the PGDBA 2025-2027 batch admission process.

Usually, the admission process consists of three stages – the application stage, followed by a written round, followed by the final interview round. Each of the stages is a shortlist stage except for the application stage. Approximately, 1500 aspirants applied for the course in 2015, 2100 in 2016, 3000 aspirants in 2017 and 4000 aspirants in 2018, and 4500 in 2019 for a total of 60 available seats in the course.

Aspirants first need to fill out the application form which costs INR 2500/- (INR 1250/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories).

Which institute will conduct PGDBA 2025?

PGDBA 2024 and PGDBA 2022 were conducted by IIT Kharagpur and PGDBA 2023 was conducted by ISI Kolkata, so PGDBA 2025 is likely to be conducted by IIM Calcutta.

PGDBA Fee

The application fee for PGDBA 2024 form was INR 2,500/- (INR 1,250/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories). The application fee for PGDBA 2025 is also expected to be same.
Total course fee for PGDBA 2024-2026 intake was INR 2,500,000 which students usually have to pay in four equal installments.

Exam Pattern

There are 50 questions in the PGDBA exam comprising 3 sections. Below is the split of questions by each section:

Eligibility Criteria (as per PGDBA 2024 criteria)

  • A candidate must hold a graduate/ post graduate degree with 10 + 2 + 4 or 10 + 2 + 5 or 10 + 2 + 3 + 2, with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e., B.Tech./ B.E./ M.Sc./ M.Com. or equivalent). One-year MBA will not be considered equivalent of M.Sc./ M.Com.
  • Candidates with 10 + 3 (Engineering diploma) + 3 (lateral entry into B.E./ B.Tech.) with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e., B.Tech./ B.E.), or with 10 + 2 + 4 (B.Sc.) with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e., B.Sc.), or with qualified CA/CS/ICWA with at least 60% marks (Intermediate and Final examinations of the CA/CS/ICWA considered together) are also eligible.
  • For SC/ ST and Person with Disabilities (PwD) category candidates, the qualifying marks for eligibility shall be 55% or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
  • The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks even if the degree awarding Institute provides marks in CGPA system. Their admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale than 10, the eligibility of a candidate will be based on the equivalence of the CGPA on a 10-point scale.
  • Candidates, who are in the final year, are also eligible to apply provided they appear in the final examination and complete other academic requirements as specified above by 30th June 2024. For such cases, admission will be provisional subject to submission of final mark sheet by 30th November 2024.

Reservation Policy

According to the Government of India (GOI) stipulations for SC/ST/EWS/NC-OBC and Person with Disabilities candidates. The candidates must submit the certificate issued on or after April 01, 2023, in the case of NC-OBC & EWS. This is as per the admission process of PGDBA 2024. Details for PGDBA 2025 will be updated once made available by the admission committee.

Additional Score for Women and Transgender

For women and transgender candidates, an additional 2 marks will be awarded as the gender diversity score. This score will be added to the written marks score to shortlist students for Personal Interviews. This additional score will NOT be considered for the final selection.
