Earlier this year, CBSE announced the introduction of a new subject, Artificial Intelligence, for students of classes 6 to 12 along with a 12 hour ‘Inspire’ module for class 8 students.
Following which the board decided to hold an Online Awareness and Capacity Building Programme for Artificial intelligence during the lockdown period to impart online training to teachers of CBSE affiliated schools.
The program is introduced in association with IBM and Intel free of cost.
Interested participants will have to contact the Centre of Excellence (CoE) concerned and register online to get access to sessions and webinars. The participation will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The sessions will include topics like the Introduction of AI to students, a Job opportunity in AI, Why AI, etc. The faculty from IBM will provide online teacher training sessions, and the faculty of Intel India will provide online capacity building programs for teachers.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) aims to achieve three objectives through the free online training program.
- Improve teaching skills that would result in better learning outcomes.
- Keep teachers up to date by instilling new knowledge and skills as per the demand.
- Help teachers revise and refresh their acquired knowledge.
CBSE says that assistance will be given to the participants through e-mails or social media, even after the seminar.
The board is taking necessary steps to promote the integration of AI education in the school curriculum and pave an easy path for teachers and students alike to embrace AI.
