CORE is a recently launched lightweight, free community version of cnvrg.io’s data science platform, which helps in building, managing, and automating basic ML modules. It has most of the standard features offered in its paid premium version.
Yochay Ettun, the CEO, elucidates that since CORE can be used either on-premise or in the cloud, it can natively handle hybrid and multi-cloud deployments so that they can scale up and down as needed on its own. Users can also add new AI frameworks from the platform’s web-based dashboard.
The vision behind Core is to help data scientists build high impact AI so that they can focus less on technical complexities and DevOps, and more on solving complex problems. Since CORE is an open-source platform, it allows data scientists to customize tools according to their needs, but Ettun also argues that they were not hired for this initially.
CORE’s primary focus is on ease of use, unlike H2O.ai, which bets on open source and the flexibility it offers. Being an open-source platform, CORE experiences the advantage of free marketing as well.
Being a code-first platform, CORE is ideal for users with experience and savvy in data science. With the help of graphical tools for managing date ingestion flows, models and clusters, users can get their models to production, and then to the real world, thereby seeing most value.
