MBA with a Major in Data Science Program by Krea is a full-time MBA program that aims at providing quality management education with a strong foundation in Data Science offered by IFMR GBS. This rigorous 2-year program is now in its 19th edition and has met the expectations of its various stakeholders and has benefited them greatly. A wide variety of corporates often visit IFMR GSB to recruit students from the MBA program. They are known for their remarkable placement record since the start of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An IFMR student will be a reflective, competent, ethical professional with a global mindset and ethical foundations. The student will excel in data-driven decision making and in developing practical communication skills in a digitized world. They will also develop leadership skills that will assist them in managing complex environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curriculum<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

IFMR offers 22 core & almost 55 elective courses during the two-year MBA with a Major in Data Science Program by Krea, which covers nine areas. Unique specializations are offered, including Banking, Quantitative Finance, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI), and Data Sciences (i.e., Business Analytics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IFMR GSB first-year curriculum integrates four courses that intermix skills across liberal arts and management disciplines. Students develop an understanding of the challenges facing an organization in the real world and develop skills to manage them effectively. Three of these interconnected courses, i.e., Ethics, Design Thinking, and Communication, are co-taught by faculty members from various disciplines as well as industry experts. Capstone Business Simulation is the fourth course. This simulation requires students to run a virtual company and compete with other companies in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course Structure for MBA with a Major in Data Science Program by Krea<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Institute follows a trimester pattern. The main objective of the IFMR MBA program is to develop students in a manner that makes them successful managers. To achieve this objective, they lay a strong foundation in the management by providing a set of core courses in Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Economics Human Resources Management, and Information Systems & Operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First-year: core courses<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The first-year MBA program is based on elaborate, hands-on induction workshops covering subjects like Excel Skills for Managers, Math for Managers, and Soft Skills. Supporting seminars are also held during the first year where students develop skills on Python, R or Matlab, make themselves familiar with accounting software and packages, and form perspectives on macroeconomics and contemporary issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer project<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Students have to take up a 2-month summer internship at the end of the first year. The students do the project under the supervision of both industry managers and faculty guides. It gives students hands-on practical exposure and the valuable experience of working on a project. Building from this, the program offers a wide range of relevant and contemporary electives for students to specialize in the second year. The university considers the grade obtained in the summer project for overall CGPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADMISSION CRITERIA<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Applicants need to have a bachelor\u2019s degree from a recognized university or institution. The university will consider candidates in their final year of an undergraduate degree.
Candidates need to take any of the following standardized entrance exams: CAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT, or GRE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selection Process<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The admissions process consists of two rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Working Professionals Round (WPR)<\/strong>: This round consists of candidates with 12 – 36 months of work experience.<\/li>
  2. General Round (GR)<\/strong>: This round consists of candidates with 0-36 months of work experience.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    After candidates have filled up their applications, an application screen round takes place. The university calls the shortlisted candidates for a Writing Ability Test(WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
